FIELD DAY 2010

Join the OARC for Field Day at the fairgrounds June 26-27.  Come operate a stataion and enjoy a weekend of fun on the air.  If you would like to sign up, please send an email to ai4km@cfl.rr.com.

IMPORTANT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This year we must use an other entrance to the Lake side pavilion at the Orlando Fairgrounds where the OARC ARRL 2010 Field Day will take place.

Please do NOT try to enter the Fairgrounds via the East Gate or South Gate to go to the Lake Side Pavilion.

A dog show is going on, and you have to pay for a ticket if you enter the Fairgrounds this way.

Go to the BMX LaneIt is the first right just WEST of the fairgrounds entrance on Colonial Drive.

After ½ mile you see the West Gate on the right, with the OARC Field Day sign.

That is the right gate to go to the Lake side pavilion. You can park your car near this location.

If you need to contact the Field Day crew use the OARC repeater 146.760 PL 103.5

The Orlando Amateur Radio Club

The Orlando Amateur Radio Club, with the club call of W4PLB, is the largest and oldest amateur radio club in Central Florida with consistently over 300 members. We are an American Radio Relay League, (ARRL) Special Service Club, and offer many outlets for your amateur radio enjoyment and growth.  We actively support Orange County Comminucations Auxiliary and Skywarn as well as several community service agencies.  To keep members informed, a “mostly” monthly e-newsletter is sent out that includes meeting information, items of interest and important announcements.

To promote amateur radio, the OARC offers classes for all levels of amateur radio license from Technician to Amateur Extra. By acknowledging the obvious benefits of upgrading, we support and promote the advancement of the amateur radio community licensees by offering these theory classes.  Contact Bob, W2BZY, for info on our upcoming classes.  Testing is also provided on a monthly basis prior to the general membership meeting at the William Beardall Senior Citizen's Center. See our links page for online internet testing sites.

Annual events sponsored by the OARC include the Orlando HamCationsm and Computer Show which is sponsored and financially supported by the OARC, whose members contribute their time and effort in promoting a high quality hamfest. Other Central Florida clubs generously give their assistance in the operation and planning of the HamCationsm.  Second only to Dayton , this is the largest hamfest in the southeastern United States . If you are visiting the Orlando area during the HamCationsm in middle February, please drop by and enjoy the show. We love to have new visitors and guests.

An online application form is available here for those who are interested in joining Central Florida's largest ham radio club. Our membership application page contains the same information in html format.

We hope you will enjoy your visit here and that you'll be pleased to return. If you have any questions, comments, suggestions or concerns, please contact any of the OARC officers or Board members.
